Great thanks.
tonight, while i was casually checking my hotmail account, I surprisingly noticed that there's ONE new email under "FYP". And i clicked into it and found that we won a Prize for our graduation proj "The Same Ties that Bind", a film that documents family acceptance of homosexual in Singapore context.
To be honest, Las Vegas Film Fest is new and the prize we won is nothing big (max 20 winners were chosen in each cat out of 1000+ submissions) . YET, it means so much to me... and I cant specifically tell you what it means at the moment. However, I know I am deeply, deeply touched...
I was sad when we actually decided to stop sending out submissions, i thought maybe my sound recording, sound editing, and directing skills (I've none!) just disappointed us all. thus, after about 6 submissions, we stop the irritating forms filing, dvd duplicating, format conversion, and snail mailing. To me, we 'gave up' the film in which we put in so, so, so much effort (i know i am just stubborn & maybe thinking too much) and they tell their stories so, so, so bravely...
For the past few months, I sent out a copy of DVD to a friend's friend, because deep in my heart, i still hope the film to be viewed by more, even one more, and s/he appreciates the film. It was because I remembered the applause we received at the night of FYP screening, it was because someone pat G on his back and said to G "Thanks for sharing your story"
THUS, i sincerely thanks LVFF to give us the award, and thanks for all the heroes & sheroes who made this film a meaningful & touching one. Great thanks, again.
